Jasper County is one of the last school districts in the state to go back in session for the new year, with their first full day on August 25th. Ahead of the first day of school, the Jasper County Board of Education met for their monthly meeting. The meeting was the first with Interim Superintendent Marilyn Holt as the head of the district. Holt was named interim superintendent after Dan Cox left the position to become superintendent of the Staunton school district.
During the meeting the school board also passed a tentative budget for fiscal year 2016. In other action, an agreement was reached with the Jasper County Health Department for any needed mental health issues, crisis intervention, and hospital pre-screening services on an emergency basis
It was also announced that the district received a $27,000 technology donation grant from HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.
