The Effingham County 911 Board spoke with a representative of Pals Electric at their meeting Monday. The 911 Board discussed a possible contract for maintenance on the power generators that are used during emergencies. This contract was sought as a result of generators not working properly during an earlier test. The Board will make a determination on how to proceed at next months meetings, as exact pricing was not available Monday.
The Board also briefly discussed the impact that the lack of state budget will have on their finances. Beginning in September, Effingham County 911 would no longer receive money from wireless bills, which come from the state. Landline bills would continue coming in until the new year, but would end on January 1st due to a law change.
