You can’t beat having the original pitch man for a product but this is not the same for KFC. The original pitch man for the business formerly known as “Kentucky Fried Chicken” died back in 1980 but they wanted to make him make a comeback. The most recent version of “Colonel Sanders” was Darrell Hammond, known for his Saturday Night Live fame as a cast member and now current voice over person. Uproxx reported today from a KFC press release that
“For the first ads, we rebooted things that made Kentucky Fried Chicken the most favorite chicken brand in the world. We brought back the Colonel’s iconic office, his white stretch limo, and the children’s mandolin band he outfitted with instruments and white Colonel Suits to create authentic Kentucky bluegrass music. And the new set of ads are more of that same homage to the things that made Kentucky Fried Chicken such an important part of American families.”
Now the “newer” ads have Norm Macdonald as the current “Colonel Sanders.” Not sure why this change has been made but will the Real Colonel Sanders please stand up?
