The American flag is flying once again at the U.S. embassy in Havana, Cuba. It was raised this morning for the first time since 1961 and marks an important milestone in the White House’s efforts to normalize relations with Cuba. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry addressed a small crowd of Cuban officials and citizens in Havana today to mark the occasion.
The Marine Corps veterans tasked with taking the flag down, Francis ‘Mike’ East, James Tracy and Larry Morris, were present for Friday’s raising of the U.S. flag.
