It’s no secret that many of today’s, and indeed, yesterday’s musicians often don’t write their own songs. Country music is no exception as demonstrated by songwriter Johnny Bulford. Johnny is perhaps most well-known for the song he wrote for Lee Brice, “Woman Like You,” which hit #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs back in 2012.
While Johnny is well known around the Nashville scene as writer for other musicians, he does his own stuff as well.
Some may be critical of the amount of collaboration that occurs on the modern music scene. But it’s also worth considering the fruit of such collaboration, like “Woman Like You.” Sure, there are some “musicians” who have almost no part in the creation process of their songs, but that’s one of the cool things about music. It transcends individuals. You may not have written your favorite song either, but that doesn’t stop you from belting it out in the shower.
