An Effingham resident is facing felony DUI charges after a fatal accident last week in Macon County.
The accident occurred on Thursday, August 6 when vehicles driven by 32-year-old Effingham resident Richard Rodgers Jr. and 34-year-old Shelbyville resident Justin Baker collided head on. Baker was killed in the accident, while Rodgers was transported to a Decatur hospital. A four-year-old was also transported to a Springfield hospital following the accident.
Rodgers was released from the hospital on Tuesday, at which time he was arrested. He has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence involving a fatality, aggravated DUI on drugs, and other traffic violations.
