An accident east of Montrose has two people taken to the hospital.
The accident which happened Tuesday, a mile east of Montrose on US 40. Preliminary information shows that Mitchell Kurtz, a 22-year-old from Altamont, fell asleep at the wheel fell asleep at the wheel of the white van he was driving. The van then struck a tow truck that was parked on the side of the road. The tow truck was towing a semi at the time of the accident. The tow truck then struck the operator, 35-year-old Chad Gelsinger from Beecher City, who was standing outside of his vehicle. The van then continued into the ditch where it rolled over.
Both Kurtz and Gelsinger were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the towed semi unit was also standing outside the vehicle, but there is no record of him being injured. There also was no name that was mentioned in the preliminary crash information.
Kurtz was given a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
