The Helen Matthes Library Board was updated on the progress of the renovation of their future location. With that update came an estimated date of August 5th for construction to be completed. Currently at the new facility, new finishes are arriving and cabinets, flooring, and lighting are being installed. Once construction is completed it will take at least a few weeks for the library to bring furniture and other library items into the building. It is expected that the new library will be able to open sometime in September.
The Library Board also made some changes to their checkout policy. All items will be checked out for two weeks at a time with three renewals allowed before an item must be returned. This policy will go into affect once the new facility is in use. Currently different types of items have different checkout lengths. The idea behind the change in this policy is to make it easier for library users to keep track of due dates.
