The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that the interstate construction project around the Route 45 interchange on the north side of Effingham is ready to move into the next stage. This weekend, weather permitting, the Route 45 off-ramp for northbound I-57 and eastbound I-70 traffic will be closed to make the temporary tie-ins to move traffic onto the newly-constructed pavement.
The off-ramp will be closed started Friday evening and will be reopened by early Tuesday morning. Crews will be working around the clock to build the required connections. The Fayette Avenue and Keller Drive interchanges will remain open and should be utilized during this time period.
Motorists are asked to have patience, watch out for workers, and to pay attention to construction signs in the area.
