The Effingham 911 Board announced earlier this week that they are still awaiting the installation of the new radio consoles purchased in December for the County’s 911 Answering Points, though they are hopeful the process will soon be completed.
The reason for the delay of the console’s installation is because a link is needed to connect the county’s 911 answering points with the STARCOM tower in Collinsville. There had been a backorder on the equipment needed to establish that link. Installation of that link is currently underway, with console installation to follow.
The 911 Board also discussed setting up training for use of the new consoles, and determined how the county’s transmitters will be identified once the new system is up and running.
