A semi and a truck were involved in an accident in Teutopolis Friday morning. The accident occurred on Route 40 along main street near Teutopolis High School and Stevens Industries.
The accident occurred at 9:38am when a pickup truck pulling a trailer was traveling east on Route 40 and went off the road way. This vehicle, driven by 61-year-old Richard Murphy of Effingham, returned to the road and went into the path of a semi tractor trailer carrying a load of grain from Siemer Milling. Murphy’s vehicle went under the semi, dislodging the axles from the semi causing two sets of four wheels to come off.
An area of route 40 was shut down in both directions as Tri Power Towing of Effingham worked to remove the trailer from the road. The scene was cleared at approximately 11:30am.
Murphy suffered minor injuries in the accident but refused treatment.
