There is still no trial date for the Effingham resident charged with Aggravated DUI for fatally striking a pedestrian during the evening of December 26 of last year. 56-year-old Gregory Yocum appeared in court Thursday for a pretrial hearing, where an additional pretrial hearing was scheduled for July 15th. The lack of a trial date is because a reconstruction report of the accident has not been completed.
Yocum is charged with fatally striking 41-year-old Effingham resident Edward Blumer, who was who was walking against traffic on US Route 45.
Yocum had first been charged with a simple DUI offense, but that was later increased to Aggravated DUI because of his prior offenses. This would be his fourth DUI related offense if found guilty.
